Practical Ways To Maximize The RPS Job Search Planner

Updated: Aug 7, 2021

I made you a planner! Staying organized in the job search can help you make a better impression. When you’re in the job market it’s difficult to keep every role or company of interest clear as you answer call backs. My hope is this planner will alleviate some of that confusion.

Today I’m going to cover:

  1. Why this Planner was made for the job search

  2. What’s Inside the Planner

  3. How to make the Planner work for you

Why was this Job Search Planner made?

Rock Point Search feels strongly that we want our candidates equipped and ready for the sometimes strenuous nature of the job search.

We always say, it’s a job finding a job!

This Job Search Planner was made to keep you on track at the various stages of the job hunt. We wanted to create a tool to help you stay organized and provide a sense of control as you deal with the job transition.

Inside the Planner

The job search can be tough on your confidence that’s why the planner starts off with space for a positive reminder. By setting this reminder early, you can develop the practice of positive reinforcement as you go through the job search. The checklist that follows will guide you through cleaning up your online presence and give you indicators of which parts of your resume you should focus on.

No planner would be useful without a place for you to make note of your schedule and avoid time clashes. One section of the planner is dedicated to interviews and gathering your notes on the company at hand.

Getting calls for multiple interviews is an opportunity to understand yourself and what you really want. With the planner you’ll be keeping track of the job elements you’ve liked and disliked.

Helping you build a pros and cons list as you interview will make your final decision a little easier. When your offer comes in you can use your list to discuss and critique options with your trusted allies.

How to make the Job Search Planner work for you

It’s both a planner and a guide.

You’ll find some prompts to follow as you use the various sections. These prompts provide reminders on what actions you can diarize or homework you should do or questions you should ask. It’s entirely up to you how you use these prompts but they are a guide of industry best practices at the various stages of the job search.

  • We hope that the planner keeps evolving. Please leave your feedback or thoughts so we can keep improving on it for future users.
